Larka
~
"Though the glowing shape was etched perfectly into the bluey black, Larka realized that from each tip of the crescent ran a thin line of light that made a perfect circle. She had never noticed it before, but she could see the moon behined the crescent of light, and it was perfectly full. Somewhere in the heavens perhaps it was always full. Soon dawn began to come and the brilliant heavens started to disappear. larka dropped her muzzle and looked into the pool. At first she thought she was seeing pictures there, but as she watched, and the slanting moring sun sliced through the water, she realized that what she was seeing was real. thee were tiny creatures in he water, almost transparent, and they were wriggiling at tremendous speed. They had no eyes or ears or anything that appeared to give them a connection with the world around them. yet in some strange way they seemed drawn to each other." - The Sight

more more more to read:
Memoirs of a Geisha: as you probably know, soon to be a major motion picture. it is though, a very good book. one that will make you - if you are like me- you cry. very interesting and cultural. it's a book you want to bring on a plane ride with you because it will keep you hooked. it's the kind if i tell you about it, it will give away the plot. so Enjoy!

sorry not a lot of updates in a while. actually, in a long while. the cobwebs have grown to unproportional size. on to the point of this update.
A GREAT AND TERRIBLE BEAUTY - good comfort read. i read it over thanksgiving break. it's about a girl (Gemma Doyle) who is sent to a boarding school after her mother dies, set in london way back when. there she meets three friends who aren't really friends but then they are. (Felicity, Pippa, Ann) Gemma discovers she has a magical power (can't give that away, 'twould ruin the plot) and she and her friends set off. she mets one sexy man named Kartik and has all sorts of girly dreams about him. i'm not giving this book justice in my description, it is very good. read it when your in the mood for a "gothic novel" so says the back. yay for corsetry.
REBEL ANGELS - ignore the slightly cheesy title. sequel to A GREAT AND TERRIBLE BEAUTY. also a good comfort read, and it is best to read these books consecutivly. (sp?) takes off where the first book left us, filled with more misteries and cliff hangers and leaving us off at the end to wait for the third book.
if you like tamora pierce books, or other books like those you will definitly love these. more updates soon.

The Curious Incendent of the Dog in the Nighttime
This is a book you'll want to read if you don't want to think very hard about anything or what to read a book about something that you probably don't relate to at all. Well written. A simplicity of sorts, and i'm not sure i would reccomend it to all. It's about a boy named Christopher, who was born with Autism (sp?). He hates the color yellow and loves the color red, and is a strange boy to some people and a genius to others. on a good day he will see one to three red cars, and on a Super Good Day he sees four or five. for bad days it is yellow cars. The story follows Christopher as, on one of his nightly wanderings he finds his nextdoor neighbor's dog stabbed with a garden hoe (they call it a garden fork). THe story unfolds and when we realize who the culprit is, he runs away to London to live with his mother. It becomes much more than a murder mystery written by a 15 year old boy, though i found myself believing at times that he was 7 or maybe 9. Not all the characters we are introduced to are of much importance, but all in all a good read for the beach. don't read it at night though because it'll have you thinking the whole night through.
Next on my list: First Test by Tamora Pierce.
